Sandwell Council, an award winning local authority, announced that it has been shortlisted as a finalist for the prestigious 2015 Procurement Leaders Global Awards, one of the most coveted in the purchasing profession and a well-recognised badge of excellence amongst procurement peers across the globe.
Sandwell Council has received national recognition and has been shortlisted for a number of prestigious awards for its pioneering work aligned to the West Midlands Virtual Hospital (WMVH), a digital representation of a real-life hospital embedded with a 3D BIM learning platform.
The Procurement Leaders Awards are the most celebrated and sought-after awards in procurement. They are said to represent the best initiatives, individuals and organisations across the world.
Sandwell Council has been shortlisted in the Public Sector category thanks to an entry which has been commended and praised by the judges who have stated that “no other local authority in the UK is doing as much as we are to innovate within procurement, creating 3D portals (the West Midlands Virtual Hospital) to train, support and develop the technology skills of our regional supply chain”.
What’s really most rewarding is that they have received recognition from procurement experts and peers from the private sector.
Sandwell Council will line-up alongside corporate procurement teams from some of the biggest brands across the globe including Rolls-Royce, IBM, Tata Steels, Babcock, Bombardier, Etihad Airways, BT, Lafarge, Citigroup, Vodafone, JLR, NHS North West Procurement Development, BAE Systems, DuPont, Heathrow Airport Holdings, Siemens, Anglo American, Network Rail, Nike, Boeing Defence UK, – You can view the full list of “blue-chip” finalists that will line-up at the awards ceremony on 28th May at the Grosvenor House Hotel, Park Lane, London.
